Earlier this week, we saw a new poster for Man of Steel, one that showed the rebooted Superman incongruously handcuffed and surrounded by military personnel, complete with a little lens flare to give the Kryptonian some mystic.

A new poster for next summer's Man of Steel has landed gracefully online.

One of the issues that this reboot must address is the contemporary perception of Superman as too powerful and virtuous, a character out of touch for these times in which we're more likely to identify with a traumatized billionaire who dresses as a bat.  This poster deals with that by putting new Superman Henry Cavill in handcuffs, looking stoic despite being in military custody.

File this one under rumor for the time being, but it comes from a credible source, and if it turns out to be true, then holy whoa, we have a better idea of the plan for Justice League.  Also, on the off-chance that you're this interested in what Warner Bros. is doing with its superhero properties and somehow haven't seen The Dark Knight Rises, the whole notion constitutes a spoiler.

Though some argue his cultural relevance has waned, Superman remains the world's most recognizable superhero, the most essential distillation of the type.  So it is in absolutely no way surprising that next year's Man of Steel will tell Superman's origin story on the biggest available screen.  Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures announced today that the reboot will indeed play in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D when it arrives on June 14, 2013.
